About me - Alexis Taylor

Please refer to my new website Just Words for up to date information!

I am a freelance copywriter living in Sussex with my husband, two children and two cats. Most of my work is done very effectively through phone, Skype and email, but I'm an hour away from London and happy to travel to meet new clients.

I grew up in England, Australia and New Zealand, where I did my first degree in English and History. After returning to the UK, I spent a couple of years doing an interesting variety of jobs working for a record company, construction companies and a national union before completing a postgraduate certificate in periodical journalism from the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication).

I graduated top of the class and started freelancing for the Independent, Red Letter magazine, Building Design and the Guardian among many others. I worked for UK Wired from its launch and then moved to Guardian Newspapers Limited, where I ended up as Head of Development, responsible for a team of permanent and freelance staff producing marketing, editorial and advertising material for both the Guardian and Observer.

Since leaving the Guardian, I have worked as a freelance writer and editor, undertaking a huge range of projects for as wide a range of clients. During this time I have also completed my honours degree in English literature (First Class) and am now undertaking a part-time MA at Sussex University.

Recent work has included a rewrite of the Neumans LLP website, work on the Bates Wells & Braithwaite annual review and research and editing support for award-winning journalist and author, Mary O'Hara, for her book Austerity Bites.

If you would like to know more about my experience, please contact me and I'll be happy to talk it through with you.

Thank you!
